Key & remote - C5

Post by atr »

Hi
I want to have a spare key for my C5 X7. I've looked on Ali's and found this :https://www.aliexpress.com/item/WALKLEE ... 0a69e43a2f
I've checked the number on my key/remote case and it's CE0523, so it should fit, I guess. now, my question is - isn't any remote has a "personal" code or something like that? it doesn't makes sense to me that this remote will open/activate every vehicle. I guess that there is something that has to be done to "pair" it to the vehicle. I would like to ask how it's done - can it be done with the diagbox or only a locksmith can do it?
Thanx.

All new remotes have to be paired to the BSI in order to programme the transponder chip and remote button functions. You need Diagbox / Lexia to do this. Also, you must pair ALL the existing keys together including the new one at the same programming session, or it will lock out any keys not programmed together in the same session.

Can't comment on these aftermarket ones - pot luck really.

Marc, I've found on Youtube a clip showing how to do it (with the lexia) on a C5 mkII. is it the same procedure for the X7?

It is the same but the interface may be different on Diagbox. But the procedure is guided once you select the option from the menu.

Just make sure you have your confidential code ready as you cannot do this without it.

Here's the procedure in Diagbox - although this is for a Peugeot, it is the same. He takes a while to get going  , but it should be clear enough.

You also have to choose between ASK and FSK. I can't remember which is correct although it's been mentioned before.

That is exactly what I wanted to ask - which version do I need? the FSK or the ASK. btw - what does it mean? I know FSK (phase shift key) that was used on short wave radio transmitters, but does it to do with this?
Thanxs Wheeler. I've noticed that I have the HU blade.

It's mostly to do with the amplitude of the waves used in the remote transmitter. Your C5 should use the ASK modulation.

Hi Marc. thanx. I'll order it. just for the sake of curiosity - is it a part of the vehicle's specs? are all the C5's ASK?

Marc, my question wasn't from a place of doubting your knowledge, only from curiosity and trying to understand.

If the letters have the same meaning as in AM, FM and PM then ASK is amplitude and FSK is frequency. I don't know if there is such a thing as PSK but that would stand for phase shift keying. FWIW frequency and phase are closely related in FM/PM terms.
