To work with a C5 X7 (and other CAN-bus vehicles since about 2007), the Lexia interface should be a "Full Chip Rev C". The cheapest units available probably are not to the full specification. It is sometimes not easy to tell before purchasing, so it is recommended to go with a supplier that others have used.

The earlier C5s are not as fussy.

You do need a full chip kit revision ‘C’ unit. I’ve not heard of a problem yet with a decent kit as I’ve described, having an issue on a C5, apart from the cheaper kits that were evidently not full kits.
