Yes, the video is a fitting reminder of a moment in time when those guys just came together and produced an awesome performance for us to enjoy.

The Old Grey Whistle Test setting just adds to it. The bands used to just turn up in the studio, no audience except a few cameramen, and the presenter, just plug in and off they go. No audience ecstatic reaction at the end, just Anne Nightingale sitting in her chair, saying something like "that was Gary Moore with Thin Lizzy" and moving on to the next item.

But, Gary Moore, Phil Lynott, Scott Gorman, Cozy Powell and Don Airey just putting everything into it, just for the pure enjoyment of the music and playing together, as if they were doing a Stadium gig.

One of my favourites.

Very nice Steve, my old friend played church organ for over forty years, every time the local pub landlord attended he would ask her to play that and she always obliged.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

I hadn't seen TH3 until yesterday but had heard that previously, it sometimes pops up on Classic FM and prompts me to think that they should air this version:

In celebration of George Groves three time oscar winner from St Helens (as avid POTD followers will have picked up the home of the only real pub named "The Pickled Egg" on planet earth).......
Can joiners-in have a go at selecting tracks for the PE Jukebox based on his 3 Oscars which he got for....

Yankee Doodle Dandy
Sayonara
and

My Fair Lady.
I will take a back seat and enjoy the contributions.

By all means go a bit deeper into George Groves Film credits....everything from The Jazz Singer to Bullit.

Like the Thomas Dolby track :)

Thanks for that Bobins, he worked with Warner Brothers and worked on 32 Oscar nominated films for sound.

One of these was Bullit including the famous car chase with Steve McQueen. There is an interesting anecdote from that film where McQueen wasn't satisfied with Georges first attempt at the sound for the chase which he recorded with a stunt driver at a local track. McQueen said " Thats not me driving its not my style" explaining he had his own rhythm of shifting gears and accelerating. " Set up a date, get the car and I'll drive". McQueen was delighted with the result.

So if theres something on the net from Bullit, I'll give it an airing. It was nomonated for an Oscar for sound but lost out to "Oliver".

He also did Woodstock, Bonnie and Clyde, and all sorts of other classic films.

Ah, the Bullitt car chase.... between a Dodge Charger and a Mustang.........

Well the Mustang is easy - obviously:

But the Dodge Charger.....? Well the Dukes of Hazzard were well known for writing off many Dodge Chargers, so........

One of George Groves' finest. Sound recorded in at a disused airport in the Mojave desert as driven personally by S.McQueen :-D
