Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

As result of all the tests carried out re thread Slow Avantage or fast Aura I did manage to work out how to adjust the 'change point' on the ZX-Peugeot 1.9D auto gearbox (1993-4) when fitted with a Bosch diesel pump.
To make the gearbox hold its gears longer you have to loosen the nut that locks the throttle cable in place and slide it towards...

Does anyone know how to change the colour of the rubber door protector strips and bumpers on a ZX? The window rubbers, door handles, etc are all black, the car is light grey, but the bumpers and door fingy's are a dark ish grey! ?? They don't match anything? Friday paint job maybe?
Would paint just come off when hosed/washed? Can they be stained...

why not use a tensile bolt? From what I recall my Renault 21 had pressed steel hunges and I expect some of the pins have worn the holes in the hinge= in which case if access is reasonable you may be able to drill them oversize.
The problem I had was with the driver's door hinge falling off either the bodywork or the door (can't remember which now)...

Assuming I can extract the hinge pins from my Savanna does anybody have any suggestions about what to replace them with?
I don't want to buy the real thing because I think much of the wear will be on the actual hinge so the correct pin won't help much.

Noticed you have fitted fog lightd in the Avantage bumper. Did the same on mine. Maid up a pattern and cut the holes, fitted lights then wired up a switch from a ZX in a breakers yard. Good lighting in the fog.

I noticed that the ZX Aura had the panels beneath its bumpers painted the same colour as the rest of the car and looked much nicer for it..
So.. I had the panels on my Avantage sprayed in a similar fashion, and was very surprised at how much difference it made to the cars overal appearance It cost me £70 but it was money very well spent..

BX owners know all about sticky seals on the front struts.
More and more motorbikes have their front suspension legs coated in Titanium nitride to prevent this. I don't know how it is applied (I think it is done by ion beam deposition) but I think that this would be the answer.

The auto boxes usually read P R N A 1 2 3....
'P' is park, in park a small pawl engages inside the gearbox and prevents the car from rolling,(but if badly worn they can disangage! so ALWAYS apply the handbrake as well.) 'R' is reverse gear, 'N' is neutral, most auto's can be towed for a very short distance in 'N' but NOT more than a mile...

I've read it a few times, but this particular gem only really sank in the other day (taken from Haynes 94-00 Laguna manual).
Slip the belt over the crankshaft sprocket, keep it taught and feed it over the idler pulley, etc. etc. Brilliant, thank you Haynes !
On reflection, as this (cam) belt has an automatic tensioner, maybe it's self taught ?...

Had very similar problems on 1.0i AX, it was the coolant temperature sensor.
It refused to start when warm, after about 20 minutes, you could coax it into life, but get practically no power out of it.
From cold, it was absolutely fine whatever the driving conditions, until you turned it off when warm !

Yes - if you have your own webspace you can put them there. Use the FTP address your ISP has given you, and it's even possible to do it by dragging the file in Internet Explorer or another web browser to the FTP site.
However, don't link to someone else's picture on another website as they may end up paying for the increased traffic each time...

My experience with KFF also in Norwich was totally different, they couldn't have been more helpful or more observant but it was with my sons VW Passat.

Not surprised. Diesels have taken a larger share of the market and burn less fuel, so they are taxed more highly to pay for wars etc. Our Government are a bunch of legalised thieves who should be first against the wall come the revolution! He was! The place I use is thorough and doesn't fail a car for being a Citroen. It is posessed of two cats who man the brake test rollers. A decent set of Michelins went on at the weekend. The previous weekend, Disks and pads were fitted to the front, together with a new driveshaft boot. Various checks and adjustments were made and bits procured. I have bought new rear arm kits but the first pair of major difficulties were to get the heater controls unsiezed and the rear wiper...

I originally had a BX Manual written by someone named Dussek (I think the name spelling might be erroneus) that was brilliant and this site gave publishers/outlets/shops for these...

It randomly logs me out. Usually I can come back after a few days and still be logged in but sometimes I come back the same day and have to log back in.
If it is logging you out after each message it may be the security settings on your web browser not allowing cookies.

Lately, every time I try to post a message I find I have to log in.
Is the board automatically logging me out after each message & if so why? It's only started recently & it's real pain in the @$$.
Anyone else finding this?

Hopefully this isn't classed as straying too far off topic.....I wish Citroen had a website like this Austin Rover one , it is a superb site with huge detail about the cars, the engines, the development, brochure and road test reprints. Shame Citroen doesn't have a resource as detailed as this one.

But, there was never a 3.0 tyurbo. I'm puzzled.

Yes, Yes, YES! One of my hobby horses. I don't know about the oil cooling, or indeed if there is such a thing as water soluble oil (they don't mix- you get emulsion. In the rad, this is bad news!!) (1) Would it be possible to relocate the temp guage source to a better position? The thinking here is, if the sensor gets dry it cant read the water temp, so why not move it to a place where it will not be in an air pocket as soon as the car starts losing water? Option B I would have...
